At the talks, it was proposed to discuss the status of Crimea for 10-15 years.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine's proposal for a peace treaty, namely the discussion of the status of Crimea for 10-15 years — this is one of the formats for a diplomatic solution to the issue. In his opinion, Russia is unlikely to agree to such a proposal, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
« the same percentage that Russia would agree to it. 10-15 is not about not bringing this topic up. This is an agreement between the parties that within 10 years the parties must resolve the issue of Crimea through diplomacy»,— he said.
According to Zelensky, this format suggests not solving the issue of Crimea now.
«This path is a format that is proposed not to solve it now, but at least tomorrow during this period. There are aspects that I want to say, and which I cannot, although I should be consulted», — Zelensky added.
The President said that such a solution to the issue of Crimea is not bad, stressing that tomorrow his decision may change.
«I think that this decision is not bad, but this is what I think today. It is also important what I think now and what I will think tomorrow and what we did yesterday are completely different things. This does not mean that we are not fulfilling our obligations, right today, if there were such agreements, this is a victory for Ukraine»,— he added.
Zelenky added that the proposal to resolve the issue of Crimea — a strong position.
«Because solving all disputes in batches or ending a war is difficult, and I think it is unlikely. Some things with tanks or rockets are impossible even for society. No one will hear you, and rightly so. Therefore, I believe that this is a strong position, if it can be resolved through diplomacy in 10-15 years. This is not a compromise, it is not close, it is a request position, but the main sentence «leave our territory», — said the president.
Recall, adviser to the head of the President's Office Mikhail Podolyak said that at the talks in Istanbul in the draft peace treaty, the Russian side was offered to fix the position on bilateral negotiations on the status of Crimea and Sevastopol, which could go on for 15 years .
