On Tuesday, Vladimir Zelensky, speaking before the UN Security Council, where Moscow, as a permanent member, has the right to veto, proposed that the council dissolve itself or exclude Russia from its membership. Earlier, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya pointed out that Russia's exclusion from the organization is impossible according to its Charter. Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, in turn, previously called the initiative unrealizable, since in order to amend the UN provisions, it is necessary that they be supported and ratified by two-thirds of the member states, including all permanent members of the Security Council. According to the document, the amendments require the signature of all permanent members of the Security Council. At the same time, Russia has the right to veto such a proposal. Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24th. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out «demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine», to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for «bloody crimes against civilians» in Donbass.
