“Must fall behind”: Tarpishchev defended tennis players amid rumors about Wimbledon

St. Petersburg, April 6, Taras Barabash. President of the Russian Tennis Federation (FTR) Shamil Tarpishchev said that the organizers of the Wimbledon tournament should not impose their opinion on Russian tennis players. Previously, the BBC, citing the organizers of Wimbledon, reported that the decision to allow the second racket of the world Daniil Medvedev and other Russian tennis players to participate in the tournament will be accepted until mid-May. British Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston did not rule out that Medvedev would be denied participation in Wimbledon in 2022 if the athlete did not condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine. «We just need to say that sport is out of politics. From our tennis players should fall behind and not impose on them what they want to impose,» Tarpishchev said.
