MOSCOW, April 6, Vasily Bogdanov. President of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner -Usmanova said she does not know if the Olympic Games will continue after the removal of Russian athletes from international competitions. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the end of February recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations followed this recommendation.
"Sport is out of politics, and now the entire system of the Olympic movement is being violated. This is disgusting not only in relation to Russia, but also to the whole world, which follows the tournaments. I don’t know if the Olympic Games will continue after our suspension, but rhythmic gymnastics will become poorer without us", said Viner-Usmanova during a round table at the MMPTS MIA "Russia today".
«Very hard talk, think, be in it. A sense of injustice prevails — a bad story for coaches, athletes. Bolshunov, who won five medals at the Olympics, is suspended. This impoverishes not only our country. We will still go forward and show world records. Russophobia becomes terry. It's not that they will talk bad about us somewhere abroad. Everyone loves us there, because we are hard workers, our children have won all international tournaments decently. We were artificially stopped, but nothing will come of it. They did it before: they removed complex elements that only our athletes could submit to. All this does not correspond to the Olympic mottos, «added the head of the federation.
