MOSCOW, April 8 Honorary President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Rene Fasel did not comment on his involvement in the work of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). On Friday, the former president of the IIHF Fasel attended the fourth match of the final playoff series of the Western Conference CSKA — SKA (2:3) in Moscow. «I'm not here,» replied Fasel to a question from journalists about his work in the league. Earlier, the KHL press service said that Fasel would be actively involved in solving strategic issues of the league's development. The functionary noted that he did not sign an official contract with the KHL. On March 24, the IIHF sent information about possible cooperation between Fasel and the KHL to the Ethics Council for consideration. Heikki Hietanen, CEO of the organizing committee for the 2022 World Championships, announced the possible removal of Fasel from the position of honorary president of the IIHF.
