Dismantling the bust of Alexander Pushkin in UzhgorodMOSCOW, Apr 10 By decision of the authorities in the city of Uzhgorod in western Ukraine, the Uzhgorod City Council reported. Earlier, monuments to Pushkin were dismantled in Ternopil and Mukachevo in the west of the country. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Ukrainian authorities have been pursuing a policy of aggressive de-Russification and forced assimilation for many years. He noted that Russia wants to see Ukraine as friendly, without a ban on the Russian language and Russian culture.
