The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced Anton Kalitkin, a student of the Moscow Automobile and Road University (MADI), to two years in a penal colony in the case of beating a National Guardsman at a rally on January 23, 2021. This was reported to TASS in court.
According to the card file of the court, the verdict was passed on April 11. Kalitkin was found guilty of using non-life-threatening violence against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code).
The 20-year-old student pleaded guilty. He was taken into custody in the courtroom, the press service of the court said. After his arrest in October 2021, Kalitkin was under house arrest.
According to RIA Novosti, the student was accused of kicking a National Guardsman on the hand on Strastnoy Boulevard; the security official suffered pain from the blow, but did not receive serious injuries.
After the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who returned to Russia after being poisoned, was detained at the airport, rallies in support of him were held throughout the country in late January and early February. According to Mediazona's calculations, 125 criminal cases were opened against the protesters, every fourth was in Moscow. -context-cite__image» alt=»1″ /> Dozens of new political prisoners.
