Central Bank: Russians took $9.8 billion from currency accounts in March

In March, the Russians took $9.8 billion from foreign currency accounts and deposits in banks, the Central Bank calculated. According to the schedule in the regulator's report, in ruble terms, this is more than 800 billion rubles, and the outflow of currency in March exceeded the outflow in February.

At the same time, the amount of money in ruble accounts increased by more than 500 billion rubles. The Central Bank explained this by an increase in deposit rates after raising the key rate to 20% on February 28. In February, the Russians took away a record 1.2 trillion rubles both in rubles and in foreign currency.

“In general, in March, the funds of individuals in the banking sector decreased by 0.7% (236 billion rubles)” , the regulator said in a report. According to RBC, as of February 1, Russians held $90.6 billion in foreign currency bank accounts.

On March 9, the Central Bank introduced restrictions on currency withdrawals: dollars could only be withdrawn from accounts or deposits opened until March 9, and the amount within six months from this date could not exceed 10 thousand dollars. From April 11, filming was also allowed in euros. The amount of transfers abroad was initially limited to 5 thousand dollars a month, and on April 1 the limit was increased to 10 thousand. -publish-photo__image» data-type=»photo» data-slate-custom=»{«src»:»https://s3.zona.media/entry/349bec3077c566658fa25728c7ed9416″,»alt»:»» ;,"imgSrc":"https://s3.zona.media/entry/349bec3077c566658fa25728c7ed9416","migrationId":"1646998844495","html":null}» alt=»1″ />< p>Charts from the report of the Central Bank.
