"Today, April 14, HLF President Mikhail Melnik received a letter from the FIVB, which states that Ukraine will play at the 2022 World Cup instead of Russia. The letter says that the draw procedure will not be repeated. Ukraine will take the place of Russia in Group A under the first seeded number", the message says.
The Ukrainian national team took 23rd place in the FIVB ranking of September 20, 2021. The team became the closest in the list to obtain a license, which allowed it to replace the Russian team in the tournament. Thus, teams from Ukraine, Serbia, Tunisia and Puerto Rico will play in Group A.
