Archival photoMOSCOW, April 18Sberbank stopped a large-scale attack on the cards of Russians by a Ukrainian application developer, which in one day tried to write off funds across the entire accumulated customer base, Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the board of the bank, said in an interview with RIA Novosti .
"I want to tell you about the attack that was carried out on many Russian citizens who have bank cards. Almost immediately after the start of the special operation, we stopped the massive debiting of funds from the cards of our clients. Moreover, the number of write-off attempts reached tens of thousands per minute. Our investigation showed that these write-offs were initiated by one Ukrainian company — a developer of mobile applications", Kuznetsov said.
This company, with about 50 different official applications, in violation of the requirements of international payment systems, collected and stored bank card data of its customers, he explained. “Moreover, everything was completely legal, because they sold legal services in applications — a subscription to meal plans, fitness programs, and so on. In one day, the company initiated mass write-offs across the entire accumulated database,” added the deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank. The financial organization has rejected several hundred thousand write-off attempts, Kuznetsov concluded.
