In Romania, a court in the city of Suceava, near the border with Ukraine, decided to extradite 36-year-old Chechen Amina Gerikhanov to Russia. Her great-uncle Amrudi Bakharchiev told Kavkaz.Realiyam about this.
Gerikhanov, according to the Chechen human rights organization Vayfond, was detained on March 13 at the border. Then she and her eight-year-old son evacuated from Kyiv, where she moved from Chechnya about five years ago. She was going to go to Turkey via Romania.
«They'll make you say that he lied, and then they'll crash.» A witness of torture at the OMON base in Grozny was handed over to Chechen security forces after being deported from France
Gerikhanov was put on the wanted list at the request of Russia, where she is accused of participating in hostilities in Syria. It was introduced into the Schengen Information System by Germany. Russia had previously requested the extradition of a Chechen woman from Ukraine, but was refused.
Gerikhanova's son was placed in an orphanage, and soon his great-uncle took him under guardianship. “The decision [on extradition] was appealed to a higher authority, so the court extended Amina's detention for another 30 days. Also, the Romanian Migration Service will interview her for political asylum,” Bakharchiev added.
