At the same time, IPN broadcasts the process of dismantling this monument on its website. The monument is being destroyed with the help of heavy construction equipment. Previously, it was doused with red paint. «I call on local authorities to remove from public space all names and symbols that still commemorate people, organizations, events or dates that symbolize communism. It is time to catch up in this area,» said Navrotsky, who was present during the dismantling of the monument.IPN informs that two more monuments to Soviet soldiers will be demolished on Wednesday — in Miedzibloci, Greater Poland Voivodeship and Gonczarsko-Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The Investigative Committee opened cases due to the desecration of monuments to Soviet soldiers in GermanyThe monument to the Red Army soldier in Siedlce was erected immediately after the end of World War II. Initially, it was in a different place, where 130 soldiers of the Red Army were buried. Later, the burial was moved to a military cemetery, and the monument was moved to the intersection of Zbonszynska and Nowy Świat streets. The central part of the monument in Mendziblotsi is a granite boulder placed on a pedestal of stone blocks. The monuments indicate that it was erected in honor of 99 soldiers of the Polish Army and 9 soldiers of the Soviet Army who died at the end of January 1945 during the liberation of Zlotov. On a monument in the village of Goncharsko, in the commune of Subbotka, there is an inscription «Eternal glory to the heroes who fell for the honor and independence of the Soviet motherland.» Earlier it was reported that the Polish authorities want to destroy 60 monuments to Soviet soldiers. There are no anti-Polish sentiments in Russia, Medvedev stressed. In recent years, hundreds of monuments to the Red Army soldiers who died for the liberation of the country have been destroyed in Poland. In the summer of 2017, Polish President Andrzej Duda signed amendments to the law banning propaganda of communism or another totalitarian system in the names of buildings, objects and premises for public use. The law provides, among other things, the demolition of Soviet monuments. According to the calculations of the Institute of National Memory of Poland, which is responsible for memorial work, the law on decommunization will affect about 230 monuments of the Red Army. At the same time, according to the law, decommunization will not affect burial places. The Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that some European countries are trying to rewrite history. Russian President Vladimir Putin said in mid-December 2019 that they, in particular Poland, entered into an agreement with Nazi Germany, Russia has documents at its disposal, how they negotiated. According to Russian politicians, Europe is not ready to recognize this part of its history. And the Russian president said that the Russian Federation is obliged to ensure the preservation of the truth about the Great Patriotic War and to resist attempts to falsify its history.
