File photoBERLIN, Apr 22 Germany will allocate about 37 million euros more for the restoration of Ukraine, the funds will be used to build housing and restore the electricity network, the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper reports, citing information from the German Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation. «Ukraine urgently needs housing for millions of internally displaced persons, it needs an intact electricity network … My ministry has reallocated funds for this purpose under an emergency program,» the head of the ministry, Svenja Schulze, told the publication. Of these funds, 22.5 million euros will go to restoration of the electricity network, and 12.4 million euros for the construction of apartments. Another two million euros will be earmarked for medical supplies. World Bank President David Malpass previously said the bank had estimated the damage to Ukraine from the fighting in terms of buildings and infrastructure at $60 billion. Volodymyr Zelensky at a round table as part of the IMF spring session said that Ukraine, according to preliminary estimates, lost $550 billion as a result of the destruction.
