Training of Ukrainian servicemen at the Yavoriv training ground. File photoMOSCOW, Apr 28 Canadian television channel CTV reported new evidence that Canadian military instructors trained Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Radio-Canada, citing documents and photographs, previously reported that Canada was part of a training mission UNIFIER in Ukraine trained representatives of the Nazi regiment «Azov» (against the militants of which a criminal case was initiated in the Russian Federation). It was noted that the Canadian Ministry of Defense denies that it was engaged in the training of Azov fighters, however, the representative of the department admitted that the staff of the training mission does not control the selection of people undergoing training, the responsibility for this lies with Ukraine.Russia denied entry to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of CanadaAccording to the CTV channel, the representative of «Azov» said that the regiment was not trained under UNIFIER. At the same time, the representative of the regiment did not answer questions regarding the passage of such training by individual members of Azov. Meanwhile, the TV channel managed to find evidence on social networks that Azov militants trained with Canadian instructors. We are talking about a photo in the social network of Azov member Kirill Berkal, the TV channel noted, adding that the account also contains «Nazi symbols and other extremist views.» A special unit «Azov» of the National Guard of Ukraine was created after the coup d'état in 2014. The «Azov» includes radicals who adhere to racist and neo-Nazi views — not only citizens of Ukraine, but also mercenaries from other countries. «Azov» participated in the Ukrainian military operation in the Donbass. In 2015, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against the fighters of this unit under the articles «Kidnapping», «Torture» and «Use of Prohibited Means and Methods of Warfare» of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In addition, in February this year, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced the receipt of «irrefutable evidence» of the commission by members of «Azov», as well as the extremist Ukrainian organization «Right Sector» * banned in the Russian Federation, of cruel crimes against civilians of Donbass. Already during the Russian special military operation, it became known that the Azov militants, in particular, fired at the village of Sartana in the vicinity of Mariupol from the Grad multiple rocket launchers during the retreat. Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out «demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine», to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for «bloody crimes against civilians» in Donbass. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces strike only at the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops and, as of March 25, they have completed the main tasks of the first stage — they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.* Terrorist organization banned in Russia.
