Archival photoYEREVAN, Apr 29 A rally of opposition forces demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is taking place in the center of Yerevan, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports. Dozens of cars drive through Republic Square, where the building of the Armenian government is located. The protesters are chanting anti-government slogans. Opposition actions were also held in other districts of Yerevan on Friday, more than 10 people were detained. Since April 25, the opposition has been holding protests throughout Armenia, as it believes that the policy of the authorities is «destructive for Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic threatens the Armenian side not only with new concessions, but also with the loss of statehood.» Columns of oppositionists from the cities of Ijevan and Tigranashen headed to Yerevan, they plan to arrive in the capital by May 1. On this day, the opposition promises to hold the largest rally in recent times. One of the leaders of the opposition, former head of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan stated that on April 25, «the second stage of the struggle began, which will be more active, dynamic, and its goal will be to mobilize more of people».
