The traditional May Day demonstration started on Sunday from the Place de la République in Paris around 15:00 local time (16:00 Moscow time). It involves various trade unions, youth organizations, left-wing politicians, representatives of socialist and communist parties, as well as supporters of the Yellow Vests movement.Paris Police Detain Radicals at May Day Rally As a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the scene, in the alleys along Voltaire Boulevard, where the police were on duty, the radicals began defiantly setting fire to garbage cans, demolishing metal fences, getting pieces of asphalt out of the pits and throwing it along with stones at law enforcement officers. In response, law enforcement officers used tear gas. The radicals then began to throw smoke bombs and glass bottles at the police. The procession was accompanied by provocations from the demonstrators and clashes with the police.
