The French enter grocery stores on Boulevard Voltaire in Paris that were destroyed during a demonstration by radicals and steal products from there, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the scene. The traditional May Day demonstration started on Sunday from Place de la République in Paris around 15.00 local time (16.00 Moscow time). Various trade unions, youth organizations, left-wing politicians, representatives of socialist and communist parties, as well as supporters of the Yellow Vests movement take part in it. The march was peaceful until it was joined by radical black block youth. As a RIA Novosti correspondent reported, the radicals defiantly burned garbage cans, demolished metal fences, threw stones and pieces of asphalt at law enforcement officers. In response, law enforcement officers used tear gas. protesters. During the demonstration, the radicals smashed the windows of cafes, shops, real estate agencies, banks, insurance companies and pharmacies, and also smashed windows at bus stops. Passers-by began to enter one of the vandalized supermarkets and steal food from there — some took out vegetables, others — alcohol. At the same time, some of them specially put on masks on their faces so that the police could not figure them out from the videos. Around 250 May Day demonstrations take place throughout France on Sunday. It is expected that 20,000 people will take part in the demonstration in the French capital. There are 1,500 police officers who enforce law and order.
