German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the European Union intends to stop importing Russian coal this summer. At the same time, the EU will abandon Russian oil before the end of the year, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
«Now we are pursuing a very ambitious policy to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel imports From Russia. We will stop importing Russian coal this summer, we will phase out Russian oil before the end of the year, and we will greatly reduce gas imports from Russia»,— said the German chancellor.
He also added that the war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine has serious consequences for the global economy, affecting the supply of wheat and food security around the world.
