MOSCOW, May 4. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) approved the world records of Russians Kliment Kolesnikov, Ilya Borodin and Evgenia Chikunova, according to the website of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU). On May 17, 2021, at the European Aquatics Championships, Kolesnikov set a world record in the 50 m backstroke, showing a result of 23.93 seconds. Borodin belongs three youth world records. On May 23, 2021, in the 400 m individual medley, the Russian became the winner of the European Aquatics Championship (4.10.02), on November 7 he won in the same discipline in short water at the European Championship (3.58.83), and a month later he beat his own record, becoming the silver medalist of the World Championships in short course (3:56.47). Chikunova twice updated the junior world record in the 200 m breaststroke in short course, showing results of 2:17.57 and 2:16.88. In the second case, the Russian woman became the European champion.
