Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin appointed the sixth deputy head of the Ministry of Energy — he became Eduard Sheremettsev, head of the Department of Project Activities and Digital Technologies of the Ministry, follows from a government decree published on the legal information portal. In March, the cabinet decided to increase the number of deputy energy ministers from five to six. Later, in April, personnel changes were carried out in the Ministry of Energy: Pavel Sorokin was promoted to First Deputy Minister, Sergey Mochalnikov moved from the position of head of the department to the position of deputy minister, and Pyotr Bobylev — vice versa. «To appoint Eduard Mikhailovich Sheremettsev as Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation,» says in the document. As the Ministry of Energy explained, in his new position he will oversee digital transformation in the fuel and energy sector, the development of information technology, the state information system in the fuel and energy complex, and software import substitution. Sheremettsev was born in 1979 in the Kursk region. He began his career in 1999, worked in Rosseti, RusHydro.
