Archival photoMOSCOW, May 7.Approximately 95 cases of hepatitis of unknown origin were detected in 15 EU countries, according to the Euractiv portal, citing the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).»As of May 5, approximately 95 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin in children aged 16 years and younger were recorded in 15 countries of the EU — European Economic Area,» the portal said. Most of the cases were registered in Italy and Spain — 35 and 22 respectively. The Netherlands and Denmark each have six cases, while Ireland has fewer than five. In Portugal and Romania, the number of cases per country is four; in Belgium, three. Two cases each were recorded in Austria, Cyprus, France and Norway. In countries such as Germany, Poland, Slovenia, one case was detected. Previously, the World Health Organization reported almost 230 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin in two dozen countries.
