File photoTBILISI, May 10Georgian Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze announced that imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili would be offered a transfer to a private clinic in Tbilisi for examination and possibly further treatment.»To avoid possible complications, Mikheil Saakashvili will be asked to take him to the Vivamedi clinic, where he will be examined and, if necessary, treated,» the minister said at a briefing. Earlier, members of the council of doctors under the Georgian Public Defender reported that the condition of Saakashvili, who twice went on a hunger strike in protest has worsened and the prison service is unable to provide him with adequate medical care. The politician's family members demand that Saakashvili be transferred to a clinic abroad for treatment. The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has repeatedly refuted the information disseminated by the opposition about a sharp deterioration in Saakashvili's health. The service reported that the politician is under round-the-clock intensive medical supervision and is provided with all medical services. Protests are systematically held in different cities of Georgia with the demand to transfer Saakashvili to a clinic abroad.
