MOSCOW, 8 May. The sensational victory of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol over Mexican Saul Alvarez in the WBA Super light heavyweight title fight did not leave indifferent both fans and other representatives of this sport. The current IBF, IBO and WBA Super world champion in middleweight champion, Alvarez's opponent in 2017 and 2018, Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin was one of the first to congratulate the Russian on his victory. «With the victory, Dmitry! It was solid. Keep up the good work!» Golovkin wrote on his Twitter. Recall that Bivol inflicted Alvarez with the second defeat in his career and the first in nine years (the previous offender of the Mexican was Floyd Mayweather Jr.). In 2017, the fight between Golovkin and Alvarez ended in a draw, a year later the North American won by decision. Mayweather, meanwhile, won $42,500 by betting on Bivol to win.
