Strong explosions thundered in the center of Kherson, according to preliminary data, Ukrainian nationalists are shelling, RIA Novosti correspondent reports. During a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine, the Russian military managed to take control of the entire Kherson region in the south of the country and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye region by mid-March. Military-civilian administrations were formed in cities and districts, and from May 1, the region moved into the ruble zone. At the same time, Ukrainian troops are constantly shelling the territory of the region from the direction of Nikolaev, and the Kyiv authorities turned off mobile communications there and stopped paying pensions to local residents. The authorities of the Kherson region have repeatedly raised the issue of joining the region to Russia. As Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov noted, this issue should be decided by the residents of the region themselves, and it should be clearly verified, have a legal justification and be legitimate, as in the case of Crimea.
