Since the beginning of May, Chisinau has been paying Gazprom for the gas it receives in euros, the head of the Moldovagaz company, Vadim Cheban, said on the air of the RTR Moldova TV channel. According to him, Moldova has stopped paying in dollars in accordance with the agreement with the Russian company.
"From May 1, we pay in euros. Payments are already made in euros. We do not pay in rubles,» Cheban said.
The head of Moldovagaz specified that under an agreement with Gazprom, Chisinau can pay both in rubles and in euros, since Moldova is not included in the list of unfriendly countries. Peskov commented on the situation with the payment of debts for gas by MoldovaGazprom and Moldovagaz on October 29 last, after lengthy negotiations, extended the contract for the supply of gas for a period for five years starting November 1st. Taking into account the situation in the post-Soviet republic, the Russian company announced its decision to sign the agreement practically on the terms of Chisinau, but subject to the timely payment of current payments in full. Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Spinu said that the tender for the audit failed, also because of the events in Ukraine, as many companies refused to come. This could lead to the termination of blue fuel supplies from May 1, but on April 29 Gazprom officially confirmed that it had planned the volumes of energy resources necessary for the republic.
