Within the framework of the so-called lustration process were dismissed many officials who worked during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, some of them challenged his dismissal in court and was reinstated. Lustration of power was one of the requirements of participants of mass protests that took place in Kyiv, from November 2013 to February 2014, which led to the coup. President of the Venice Commission (the Council of Europe's advisory body on constitutional law), Gianni Buquicchio said that the lustration law does not meet European standards.
