SIMFEROPOL, May 19. Kherson region will become a subject of the Russian Federation in the future, said the head of the regional military -Civil Administration Vladimir Saldo at a meeting with representatives of municipalities. “We look at the Russian Federation as our own country. Now we are a territory controlled by the Armed Forces, but in the future it will be transformed as a subject of the federation, there will be the Kherson region of the Russian Federation,” he says in a video posted on the administration’s Telegram channel. The Russian military took control of the Kherson region in mid-March. Military-civilian administrations were formed in cities and districts; on May 1, the region moved into the ruble zone. At the same time, Ukrainian troops are constantly shelling the territory of the region from Nikolaev, and the Kyiv authorities have turned off mobile communications there and stopped paying pensions to local residents. The authorities of the Kherson region have repeatedly spoken about the entry of the region into Russia. As Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov noted, this issue should be decided by the residents of the region themselves, and it should be clearly verified, have a legal justification and be legitimate, as in the case of Crimea.
