MOSCOW, May 21. Russian midfielder Denis Cheryshev has announced his retirement from Spanish football Valencia club. The footballer's contract with Valencia is valid until the summer of 2022. On Saturday, Cheryshev played in the match of the 38th, final round of the Spanish Championship against Celta (2: 0), appearing on the field after the break. Earlier it was reported that the player had a farewell dinner with teammates.

Cheryshev is 31 years old, he moved to Valencia in 2016 and spent 122 matches for the team, scoring 11 goals and making 12 assists. In the 2018/19 season, Cheryshev, together with Valencia, won the Spanish Cup. As part of the Russian national team, the midfielder played 33 matches (12 goals, 5 assists), reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 home world championship with the national team.
