Residents of Kherson region will receive Russian citizenship protection and a clear understanding that Russia has come forever, Deputy Head of the Regional Administration Kirill Stremousov told RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified admission to Russian citizenship of residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine. The document was published on Wednesday on the official Internet portal of legal information. «We are very grateful to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for everything he does for us, for protecting the Russian people in the native Russian territories, currently liberated. A simplified system will allow all of us clearly understand that Russia is not here for a long time, but forever,» Stremousov said. Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as of March 25, the Armed Forces completed the main tasks of the first stage — they significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass. During the special operation, the Russian military took control of the Kherson region and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye region in southern Ukraine. Civil-military administrations have been formed in the regions, Russian TV channels and radio stations have begun broadcasting, and trade ties with Crimea are being restored.
