File photoGENEVA, May 24.Russia considered the resolution on the health emergency in Ukraine, which was proposed to be considered during the 75th special session of the World Health Assembly (WHO), to be politicized, and proposed its own alternative document, prepared jointly with Syria, the statement of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN says. The Ukrainian resolution, in particular, calls on Russia to «immediately stop all attacks on hospitals and other healthcare institutions,» as well as to respect the status of medical and humanitarian personnel. As reported in the Russian permanent mission to the UN office and other international organizations in Geneva, the draft Ukrainian resolution has a clear anti-Russian leitmotif, contains false statements and unfounded accusations against Russia, as well as calls for actions that will not benefit the civilian population of Ukraine. In this regard, Russia urged Member States not to support the Ukrainian resolution, “because it is politicized, does not comply with the WHO Charter and its tasks.” “In order to mobilize the resources of WHO and its Member States to create conditions and implement the necessary measures to protect health and life of all citizens of Ukraine, we propose a draft resolution drawn up in a neutral and balanced language and developed within the framework of the organization's mandate, taking into account the proven positive experience and knowledge of WHO,» the Russian permanent mission said.Ukrainian troops fired on the hospital building in Yasinovataya. They noted that the operative part of the draft resolution proposed by Russia and Syria largely repeats the provisions of the Ukrainian document «without excessive politicization and anti-Russian unfounded accusations and demands.» Thus, in the draft resolution «Health emergency in and around Ukraine, as well as in countries hosting and hosting refugees,» condemns attacks on civilians and health facilities, as well as the use of civilians as «human shields», indiscriminate shelling, the deployment of military installations and equipment in densely populated areas. The draft resolution also stressed the need to protect medical and humanitarian personnel, hospitals and other health facilities. In addition, the Russian-Syrian document calls for the participation of WHO personnel and other international and humanitarian organizations in providing the necessary assistance to citizens, supplying medicines and necessary medical equipment. It is expected that the participants of the 75th World Health Assembly, which is taking place these days in Geneva , will consider both draft resolutions on Wednesday, May 25. The World Health Assembly is WHO's highest decision-making body, setting policy for the organization and approving its budget. The Assembly is attended by delegations from all 194 WHO Member States.
