File photoBANGKOK, May 28 An Indonesian ship sank off the coast of South Sulawesi province, 17 people were rescued, up to 43 people could be missing, Indonesian news agency ANTARA reported on Saturday. According to the agency, the ship KM Ladang Pratiwi, believed to have 60 passengers and cargo on board, embarked on a 20-hour local shipping voyage from the port of Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, to a nearby island on May 25. The ship's distress signal was received on May 26, but the rescuers sent by the authorities to the crash area reached it only in the early morning of May 27. Rescuers and civilian ships that arrived at the distress signal managed to find and save 17 people, the agency said.
