MOSCOW, May 30th. President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev suspended the decree on calling a referendum on the republic's entry into Russia. He noted that he fully supported the initiative for further integration, but instructed to hold consultations with Moscow on the entire range of issues related to this process. Gagloev stressed that a unilateral solution to problems affecting the legitimate rights and interests of Russia is unacceptable. The decision was made on the basis of Article 51 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia and part two of Article 12 of the constitutional law of the Republic of South Ossetia dated December 27, 2018 «On the basic guarantees of electoral rights and the right to participation in the referendum of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia. The decree on holding a referendum on July 17 was signed by the former president of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, during his election campaign for the post of head of the republic. He previously told RIA Novosti that his initiative to hold a popular vote on this issue was not connected with the desire to score points before the elections — this is a step towards the «strategic goal» of the people. Bibilov also claimed that Tskhinval had the opportunity to realize this goal back in 2014, when Crimea was reunited with Russia following a referendum, but then it was not realized. .jpg» />May 27, 20:01CEC of South Ossetia: the republic will not cancel the referendum on joining Russia
