The Russian side considers it reasonable the decision of the new head of South Ossetia to suspend the decree about a referendum on joining the Russian Federation, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. On Monday, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev suspended the decree on calling a referendum on joining the republic to Russia until the completion of consultations. «Taking into account the fact that this initiative of ex-president A .I.Bibilova was not agreed with us, the decision of the new head of state to suspend the said Decree of May 13, 2022 «On calling a referendum of the Republic of South Ossetia» is assessed as sound, in line with the spirit of alliance between our countries and the principle of close bilateral coordination on significant for Russia and South Ossetia issues, — Zakharova noted, answering a media question. «The Russian side is ready for consultations with South Ossetian partners to discuss ways of further integration between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation,” she added. with South Ossetia on dual citizenship
