In Germany, found «holes» in the anti-Russian embargo

Oil production. Archival photoMOSCOW, June 2The time for large packages of sanctions against Russia for the European Union has passed, while the embargo on Russian oil turned out to be with «holes», writes the German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. As the publication notes, with the introduction The EU oil embargo has reached a point where the price of concerted action against Russia is too high, at least for some states, and this applies not only to Hungary. «/>The Prime Minister of Belgium was handed a petition demanding a reduction in gasoline prices «The truth is that the time for large sanctions packages against Russia has passed at the moment,» FAZ emphasizes. Thus, Hungary blocked the decision for almost four weeks, and Germany spoke in favor of it only after it significantly reduced imports of Russian oil. «The result is an embargo with small and large holes,» the newspaper points out. Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will be able to continue to receive supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, although Germany and Poland will no longer import oil from its northern branch, which will affect at least 90 percent of all imports. The embargo is that restrictions on oil will, in fact, only come into effect from 2023, and until then, Russia will be able to receive income. In addition, the likely rise in prices on the market «in the worst case» even compensates for the negative effect of the embargo on Moscow, and time will allow it to look for new customers. There is also a risk that cheap pipeline oil, which Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will continue to receive, will cause split in the EU, adds FAZ.On Tuesday night, EU leaders reached a political agreement on the sixth package of sanctions, which includes, among other things, the gradual introduction of an embargo on oil imports from Russia. At the same time, the ban will affect only deliveries by sea, and oil coming through the Druzhba pipeline is not subject to restrictions. But, according to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, by the end of the year, the EU expects to abandon almost 90% of Russian oil imports. President Vladimir Putin said that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
