The Investigative Committee did not complete the investigation into the case of Victoria Petrova from St. Petersburg due to the refusal to admit guilt in «fake» stories about the army

In St. Petersburg, the investigator refused to complete the investigation into the case of Viktoria Petrova, after she did not plead guilty to spreading «fakes» about the army (clause «e» of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). Her lawyer Anastasia Pilipenko told Mediazone about this.

According to the defender, investigator Demidov called her and said that he «plans to complete the investigation if Vika admits guilt.» Petrova «fundamentally» refused to admit her guilt, so the investigation continued.

As Pilipenko noted, Demidov did not say exactly what information was recognized as «knowingly false.» According to the defender, pressure is put on Petrova and she is “isolated from the outside world” for the sake of confessing. For example, the investigator said that “the results of the interrogation of Petrova as a defendant” will determine whether she will be allowed to meet with her mother.

In addition, the Petersburger is not allowed to correspond with journalists — her answers are not censored, and some Letters are taken from Petrova right in the cell.

Petersburg woman was arrested on May 7th. The case against her was initiated because of the anti-war post on VKontakte, written on March 25. Nine videos were attached to the post from different YouTube channels — Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, politician Maxim Katz and journalist Alexander Nevzorov.

Updated and corrected at 17:52. Originally in the news referring to Pilipenko, it was erroneously reported that the investigator decided to end the case. In fact, the investigator told the defense lawyer that he would end the investigation if Petrova pleaded guilty. In this regard, the title has been changed.
