MOSCOW, June 3, Pavel Levkovich. 1988 Olympic champion Nikolai Gulyaev elected for the presidency of the Russian Skating Union (SKR). Voting took place on Friday as part of the reporting and election congress of the organization in Moscow. Also, Alexei Kravtsov, who previously held the position of head of the TFR, and a candidate from the Skating Federation of the Tver Region, Vadim Morozov, also applied for the post. 34 votes were cast for Gulyaev, 21 for Kravtsov, and 2 for Morozov. A lawyer and adviser to the president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) were not allowed to attend the reporting and election congress. The delegates also decided for forty minutes whether the elections would be open or secret. 39 people against 19 voted for an open vote. Gulyaev is 56 years old. He won gold at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Gulyaev was previously vice-president of the TFR, he is a member of the executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
