If the Canadian government is not ready to acknowledge the consequences of its own actions, then this becomes a task for the citizens of Canada … Canadian citizens are already witnessing the consequences of their own government's policies, ”Proskuryakov writes in an article, a link to which is published on the page of the Russian Embassy in Canada on Twitter.
He noted that since the beginning of 2014, Canada has imposed about 40 packages of economic sanctions against Russia, with almost half of them introduced in the last three months. The «peak» of these «efforts» was the closure of Canadian airspace and inland waters for aircraft and ships that are associated with Russia, Proskuryakov believes. «Some Canadian officials called Russian oil «dirty» … For Russia, as a reliable supplier who never threatened this status even during political disagreements, it is obvious that there are no “good” or “bad” hydrocarbons when it comes to meeting the daily demand of the population for energy,” Proskuryakov added. Canada on May 31 introduced another package of restrictions against financial sector of Russia, which affected 22 individuals and four legal entities. Canada's sanctions list has been expanded to include high-ranking employees of Russian financial institutions, as well as large banks.
