File photoWASHINGTON, Jun 4California National Guard Commander David Baldwin urged the US and other Western countries to rethink the transfer of Soviet-made fighter jets to Ukraine, Politico reported. A similar initiative was actively discussed earlier, but was vetoed the US administration, which did not want to increase the risks of a direct confrontation with Russia.
"MiGs are the best immediate solution to support the Ukrainians, but options (transfers) of American or Western fighters should also be explored as soon as possible", — Politico quotes the general's statement.
According to the publication, the California National Guard has been involved in the training of the Ukrainian army since the 1990s, and its command remains in touch with colleagues, helping them, in particular, to formulate requests for American military assistance.< img src="/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/88a8820da8b17684244f0bd92a0efb2b.jpg" />NYT: The Pentagon studied the captured Russian equipment in Ukraine
