Congress of the International Skating Union (ISU) rejected an amendment to raise the maximum age of the organization's officials from 75 to 80 years, which would allow the Russian Alexander Lakernik to be re-elected to his post. Lakernik, 77, has been nominated for re-election as ISU Vice President. The current maximum age for ISU officials is 75. An amendment by the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Figure Skating Federations that would have allowed Lakernik to be re-elected as ISU Vice President was rejected by Congress.
