Farmer protests in WarsawMOSCOW, 8 Jun. The reckless actions of the Polish authorities have led to a severe economic crisis, and by autumn the country will face social protests of unprecedented strength. Columnist Lukasz Yastrzhembsky expressed this opinion in an article for Myśl Polska. According to him, the Poles are less and less sure every day that the government is aware of how much the standard of living of the population has worsened. Now citizens are more afraid of poverty than some kind of military conflict. The threat of being left without energy resources and food also has a negative effect on people's mood, Yastrzhembsky emphasizes.Poles are ready to give up vacations due to rising prices, a survey showed. He noted that the republic has already experienced many shocks due to the coronavirus and the situation in Ukraine, but the coming economic collapse, which is being talked about more often, could be even worse than the Great Depression. Today, the brunt of the crisis has to be borne by those who do useful work — nurses, miners, farmers, teachers and entrepreneurs. According to Yastrzhembsky, the Polish authorities will not be able, as before, to convince the population to save the country's economy. «It is impossible to make people believe that the ideas of freedom and Western democracy are more important than the thickness of the wallet (or rather, its thinness). It will no longer be possible to convince Putin , Orban, Lukashenka, Trump or Pope Francis. We all see people who are fired from their jobs, and they are right next to us,» the observer emphasized. Yastrzhembsky believes that the authorities in Warsaw cannot offer people anything but empty slogans. «Superficial patriotism,» he said, no longer works, and small social payments serve only as a «fig leaf» to calm the population. As for Ukraine, the current enthusiasm of the Poles will soon end, and in its place there will be only claims and unfulfilled hopes. Given the huge scale of the coming crisis, the country is in for violent social upheavals, which, perhaps, will give the country a new breakthrough, but we need to prepare for them, the author summed up. =»/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/9cfe66c3dc7795dc7a14e0c9c52b11f3.jpg» />Polish residents allowed to collect firewood due to coal embargo from Russia
