File photoBRUSSELS, 8 Jun Building strategic autonomy should be the main objective of the EU's foreign, security and defense policy, MEPs said during the plenary session in Strasbourg. «Such autonomy is crucial to the ability to act alone, when necessary, and together with partners, when possible, to have influence in the international arena,» the MEPs said in a statement. According to them, in order to achieve autonomy, urgent investments are needed in developing a reliable defense potential, creating food sovereignty reducing energy dependence.
