The head of the NOC of Ukraine called for the removal of Russia from all competitions

MOSCOW, June 11 President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Sergey Bubka demanded that all international sports federations comply with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the removal of Russians and Belarusians from international competitions, according to the official website of the Ukrainian NOC. On Saturday it became known that Russian judoists will take part in the Grand Slam tournament, which will be held in Mongolian Ulan -Batore, as neutral athletes. Earlier, the International Judo Federation (IJF) canceled all tournaments in Russia due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, the organization allowed athletes from Russia to take part in international tournaments in a neutral status. «The IOC Executive Committee, in order to protect the unity of international sports competitions, recommended their organizers and international sports federations not to invite athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus to participate. This position on this week was fully supported by the Summer Olympic Sports Association. The NOC of Ukraine requires all international federations to comply with the above recommendations,» Bubka said. At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices, and also canceled competitions in Russia. Other federations allowed athletes from the two countries to compete in neutral status.
