MOSCOW, June 21 Yuriy Vernidub appointed as Kryvbas head coach from Kryvyi Rih, according to the website of the Ukrainian club. The contract with 56-year-old Vernydub is for three years. On June 8, on his own initiative, Vernydub terminated the contract with the Moldavian Sheriff, where he had worked since December 2020. Under his leadership, the team reached the group stage of the Champions League and beat the future winner of the tournament Real Madrid (2:1) on the road. On June 9, Kryvbas fired two coaches of the youth team due to the lack of a pro-Ukrainian position, and later turned to Premier League (UPL) with a call to hold a national championship on the territory of the country. «Kryvbas» made it to the UPL at the end of the 2021/22 season, finishing second in the First League. The championship was completed ahead of schedule after 20 rounds due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine.
