The Investigative Committee opened a criminal negligence case against Tigran Mkrtchyan, the former chief physician of the Rostov Prison Hospital No. 19. This was told by lawyer Alexei Avanesyan, who represented the interests of Dmitry and Natalia Baksheev.
In a conversation with Sota, Avanesyan clarified that the case was opened back in March, but Baksheev's wife was recognized as the victim only in June. Earlier, a criminal case of causing death by negligence was brought against the doctor of the prison hospital, Lusine Grigoryan.
In June 2019, Dmitry was sentenced to 12 years in prison, his wife Natalya received 10 years in prison. They were found guilty of the murder of Elena Vakhrusheva (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code) and desecration of her body (Part 1 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code). The defense insists that the Baksheevs did not kill Vakhrusheva, but found her remains in a wasteland.
Baksheev died in February 2020 in a prison hospital due to improper insulin therapy.
