The Latvian Tennis Union (LTS) has reached an agreement on the removal of Russian and Belarusian athletes from participation in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Liepaja, according to the official website of the LTS. «The Latvian Tennis Union has reached an agreement with the International Tennis Federation that that this year the Liepāja International Women's Tennis Tournament will be held in July without the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes,» the LTS report says.
According to journalist Jannik Schneider on Twitter, the athletes were removed from the list of participants without explanation competition, which will start on July 11. Tennis players received letters with notifications that they would not be able to play in any professional tournaments in Latvia. Initially, the tournament with a prize fund of 60 thousand dollars was supposed to take place in the third decade of May, but it was postponed to mid-July.
