Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the EU summit in Brussels. File photoMOSCOW, June 29Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called on other countries to provide military assistance to Ukraine, even if after that they will not be able to fully defend their own territories in the coming months.
"It is extremely important so that all countries that still have something on their shelves deliver it (to Ukraine). This may mean that in the coming months you will not be able to fully protect your own territory, but for the moment it is important that we give priority to Ukraine", Politico quotes Rutte as saying.
The prime minister criticized other members NATO for not sending heavy weapons to Kyiv in sufficient quantities. «You still see in the NATO region that there are countries that hesitate,» Rutte added. However, he noted that he did not want to name these states. The Netherlands had previously pledged to supply Kyiv with armored personnel carriers (presumably YPR-765), 200 Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,000 combat helmets and 2,000 fragmentation vests, 100 sniper rifles with 30,000 units of ammunition and 400 rocket-propelled grenade launchers (with permission from Germany).
