The United States began the final test of missiles with microwave radiation

Pentagon, USA. File photoWASHINGTON, Jul 1 The US Navy and Air Force have begun final key tests of new missiles using microwave systems, which are scheduled to be completed before the end of summer, according to Defense News, citing weapons developers at the Pentagon. As specified, this type of missile is a high-yield electromagnetic non-kinetic strike weapon (HiJENKS), which is designed to disable enemy electronic systems using microwave technology. The current testing phase will take place in California and is the final one after five years of work on the project. HiJENKS is the successor to the previous US military project, which also used microwave technology to disable enemy electronics. Unlike its predecessor, the new device uses more advanced technologies to reduce the size of the missile and make it applicable in more difficult conditions on a wide range of carrier systems. The Pentagon also said that the military is working on improving the technology to disable unmanned aerial vehicles , including clusters of drones that could pose a threat to military bases. The contract for the supply of a prototype of such a device in early 2024 already cost the US Department of Defense $26 million.
