A wider audience learned about the goalkeeper on July 1, when very detailed information appeared in the media about a whole special operation of law enforcement agencies to detain him in St. Petersburg. After training, Fedotov was met near the arena by a group of about ten people, two of whom, presumably, were clothes and masks. The athlete was taken to the territory of the military commissariat as an allegedly malicious draft evader. On the spot, the hockey player felt unwell, an ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. Representatives of the government agencies involved have not yet given any specifics or are completely unavailable for communication. After almost a day and a half since the beginning of the story, a strange picture still has to be restored, mainly thanks to reports from sources and lawyer Fedotov. >Ivan FedotovWho are draft dodgers? According to information, they tried to impute article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to the hockey player, which regulates the punishment for evading conscription for military service or alternative civilian service. In the case of Fedotov, the first option would have been clearly considered. For the enforcement of such a mechanism, significant systematic problems are needed in interaction with the military registration and enlistment office. In order to be reasonably considered an evader, a young person must refuse to receive subpoenas for draft events against his own signature or ignore their instructions without a good reason. By the way, a duly executed document can also be handed in through an official employer, which was enough in Fedotov’s career. Lawyer Alexei Ponomarev, representing the interests of the hockey player, said that Ivan did not receive subpoenas and there is no reason to consider him a service evader. Probably, extravagant options for deceiving the military registration and enlistment office, such as deliberately harming one's own health or forging medical records, are not considered.
