
MOSCOW, Jul 4 Australian boxer Jay Opetaya suffered a double fracture of his jaw in a fight against the Latvian Mairis Briedis. The fight, which took place in Australian Queensland on Saturday, ended with Opetaya's victory by unanimous decision. He became the new world heavyweight champion according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF). The champion announced on social networks that he had successfully undergone an operation that would put him out of action for at least three months. Opetaya is 27 years old. In the professional ring, the Australian won 22 victories (17 by knockout), without suffering a single defeat. On account of the 37-year-old Briedis 28 wins (20 by knockout) with two defeats.
