MOSCOW, Jul 5 the first racket of the world, the winner of Wimbledon in 2004, Maria Sharapova was not invited to the celebration of the centenary of the center court due to being Russian, reports the Daily Mail. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the center court of the Wimbledon tournament, a special ceremony was organized last Sunday, which were invited 26 winners of tournaments of previous years. Sharapova was not among them. The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) did not confirm whether Sharapova was invited, but clarified that among the one-time winners of the tournament, invitations were sent only to those who were already there or who did not need to travel far. A video was also released for the celebration, but it did not include footage of the 17-year-old Sharapova's victory over American Serena Williams. AELTC again noted that the lack of footage of Sharapova was not related to the tennis player's nationality, saying that due to editing requirements, it was impossible to include footage from the matches of all the winners of previous years in the video.
